Jan MacLeod

Fibre Artist

Jan MacLeod is a lifetime resident of British Columbia. She was born in Ladysmith and after attending University spent a number of years in Terrace as a potter. She now resides in Vancouver and has worked in her studio in downtown Vancouver since opening her business Plant Papers in 1983.

As a full time artist and papermaker she has been commissioned to make works to enhance the decor of hotels, businesses and private homes. Her line of one- of- a- kind art cards, gift items and artworks is sold in fine gift shops and galleries in Canada and the U.S.

She has explored, with enthusiasm, the versatility of the paper medium creating works from dyed, sculpted, pressed, molded and layered papers as well as 3-D objects and sculptures.

For years her collection of natural materials, gathered during her travels and walks, has grown. The twigs, stalks, seed pods, stones, bark and leaves from this collection have been easily integrated into a number of her paper pieces, especially since the paper itself is made only from plants.

You can see some of Jan’s work in the rooms of Vancouver’s Waterfront Hotel, in the Salmon House Restaurant in West Vancouver, in the public areas of the Delta Whistler Mountain Suites in Whistler and in the offices of Wolverton Securities or Kison and Associates in Vancouver.
